What is the ruling on the speakers in a seminar or scholarly council repeating the sermon of necessity?
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The first question: Your Eminence,The Shaykh : A scholarly council or seminar consisting of three participants; is it prescribed for each of them to begin his speech or contribution with the sermon of necessity?
The Shaykh : What appears to me—and Allah knows best—and this is the first time such a question has been posed to me—and peace be upon you—is that each of the three must begin his speech with the sermon of necessity; because it is a blessed sermon and a lawful means for Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) to grant success to the speaker, and he has opened his speech with this sermon, and every speaker has a need, and this need, naturally, in scholarly councils, is only that the speaker’s words reach the hearts of the people, and that the people benefit from the knowledge he will deliver; so I have no doubt that this lawfulness includes the three.
