What is the ruling on every worshipper making qunut in congregation prayer in secret?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : There is a young man who asked me about the imam of their mosque, Rafat.

The Shaykh : This is in the Nusayri [school].

The questioner : In the Nusayri [school], in some prayers there is no qunut. So he said, is it possible that we do not supplicate with a loud voice, but in secret, where each person supplicates in the second rak'ah after the bowing, each in his own secret? In this case, is this method from the Sunnah or is it permissible?

The Shaykh : No, it is not valid from two aspects. The first aspect is that here the second rak'ah is lengthened compared to the first, whereas the opposite is the case. The rak'ahs, as one goes down, decrease in length; so the last rak'ah is much shorter than the first, and the third is longer, and so on. So this is the opposite of the Sunnah in this way. The second way, which is clearer, is that he added something that was not there, such as qunut aloud. That is, just as if he made qunut in secret, making qunut in secret is undoubtedly bringing in something not prescribed. But the one who makes qunut aloud brings in two things: something not prescribed in the first place, and making it aloud in the second. So this is more reprehensible than the first. So there is no difference between the one who made qunut in secret and the one who did not make qunut in secret but supplicated with any supplication, because in both cases, in the first case he made qunut in secret and in the other case he supplicated in secret, he has brought in something not prescribed.

The questioner : And the young man said, the scholars said in this, among them al-Shawkani in *Nail al-Awtar*. Is this correct transmission from him?

The Shaykh : It is not correct.

The questioner : I said to him, I mean, it is strange, why did he do this? And we have a sitting rest after the tashahhud and before the taslim, where he said
then choose any supplication that you like ليتخير أحدكم من الدعاء ما شاء
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1163Sahih (Darussalam)
, why does he not utilize this place that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) indicated?

The Shaykh : They want to please the people who make qunut, because when he says he has a group of Salafis and a group of those following the madhahib, among them Hanafis and Shafi'is, when he announces to the public that I will not make it aloud, each person does what he wishes. The Shafi'i does not make qunut, so he achieved his goal. This means the trial of the shaykhs today is pleasing people; their goal is never following the Sunnah.

The questioner : Glory be to Allah.
