The Shaykh’s advice to those who wash the dead not to take a fee for it.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : As for me, I work in a hospital. When a person dies, after the family of the deceased finishes with him, they naturally give this person money, on the basis that he washed their deceased relative for them.

The Shaykh : I have already given the answer to this question previously.

The questioner : Yes, the intention is correct.

The Shaykh : May Allah forgive you.

The questioner : If so, you should return to the intention, which is the primary thing.

The Shaykh : It is this one.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : I mean, for example, without offense, suppose you are the one washing the body; do you hope to take the money?

The questioner : I mean, from the very beginning...

The Shaykh : We are not talking about your heart, but I am reminding you that your heart inclines to wash the dead body for the sake of what might come to you.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : And beware, then beware, of distinguishing between the family of the deceased who honored you and gave you, and the family of a deceased who turned a blind eye and did not give you a single coin, such that the first group becomes more beloved to you than the second. Beware, then beware. As for the answer, you have already known it.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
