The Shaykh Al-Albani’s remarks on one of the etiquettes of gatherings, namely unity and solidarity.

The Shaykh : This gathering reminds me of a hadith I usually narrate when we meet in a spacious, wide hall and sitThose present : however it happens, with some of them far from others because the place is wide. There is no harm in such a sitting where the attendees are dispersed from one another, provided it is not a session of knowledge. However, if they are in a session of knowledge, they must sit close together, or else leave those gaps between them that are found in other than sessions of knowledge. This is the right approach regarding a session of knowledge first, and also regarding other than sessions of knowledge second. But the first is more deserving and more fitting to be adhered to. I was reminded of this closeness, even though it was not a choice by those sitting close together, but rather a necessity due to the narrowness of the hall. However, this narrowness must remind us, as students of knowledge, of this solidarity that we achieve in a narrow hall, to achieve it in a wide hall. Why? Because of two hadiths.
The first, which reminded me of this sitting, is the hadith of Abu Thalhah al-Khushni (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: a desert, a wide land, with people here and people there If they do this in the wide plain, in the valleys and gorges, then it is even more fitting and more fitting for us to gather in our gatherings in our homes, absolutely. And then, if we are, as we said earlier, in a session of knowledge.
And here comes the second and last, or final, hadith, which is meaning dispersed, because this is a mosque and they should sit in circles, as there is encouragement to attend sessions of knowledge and sessions of remembrance, as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih Muslim 2699a If this gathering is a gathering of remembrance, our gathering is a gathering of remembrance.
The first, which reminded me of this sitting, is the hadith of Abu Thalhah al-Khushni (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:
We used to travel with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and when we would stop at a place, we would disperse in the valleys and gorges.
كنا إذا سافرنا مع النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم فنزلنا منزلا تفرقنا في الشعاب والوديانWe would disperse in the valleys and gorges. So we traveled with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on a journey and we dispersed. He (may the prayer and peace of Allah be upon him) said: "Your dispersal is from the work of Satan." Abu Thalhah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "So after that, when we traveled with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and stopped at a place, we would gather until, if we sat on a carpet, it would have been enough for us."
And here comes the second and last, or final, hadith, which is
That the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the mosque one day and found them dispersed in circles, circles. He said to them: "Why do I see you like scattered donkeys?"
أن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم دخل المسجد يوما فوجدهم متفرقين حلقات حلقات فقال لهم: ما لي آراكم عزينthose persons who assemble in the house among the houses of Allah (mosques) and recite the Book of Allah and they learn and teach the Qur'an (among themselves) there would descend upon them tranquility and mercy would cover them and the angels would surround them and Allah mentions them in the presence of those near Him
ما اجتمع قوم في بيت من بيوت الله يتلون كتاب الله ويتدارسونه بينهم إلا نزلت عليهم السكينة وغشيتهم الرحمة وحفتهم الملائكة وذكرهم الله فيمن عنده
