A waiting period is required in divorce.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : A man should divorce during a confirmed waiting period. It is forbidden for him to divorce his wife during a period of purity in which he had sexual intercourse with her, just as it is forbidden to divorce her during menstruation. For this reason, when 'Abd Allah ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) divorced his wife while she was menstruating, and this reached the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the Messenger was angered by this. The Messenger was angered by this, and he ordered 'Umar to order 'Abd Allah ibn 'Umar to take his wife back, to return her, then leave her until she becomes pure, then she menstruates, then she becomes pure, and then if he wishes, he may keep her, and if he wishes, he may divorce her.
And what we hear now from some fools who divorce their wives while they are menstruating or during a period of purity in which they had intercourse with them is painful and regrettable that a person transgresses the limits of Allah by divorcing his wife during a period of purity in which he had intercourse with her or during menstruation.
