Is the ruling on praying in the Prophet's Mosque (peace and blessings be upon him) the same as the ruling on praying in mosques built over graves? With a discussion by the students on this matter.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Similarly, if it were said that praying in the Prophet's Mosque is like praying in other mosques built over graves, then we would have effectively abolished the virtue of praying in the Prophet's Mosque, just as we abolished the virtue of praying at a specific time for the greeting of the mosque, for the sake of wudu, or for other reasons.
Therefore, the Prophet's Mosque (peace and blessings be upon him) is an exception to this ruling; because it is not like other mosques; because it has the virtue of a thousand prayers, and this virtue continues until the Day of Resurrection. If it were said that despite this, praying in it is like praying in any mosque, we would have nullified this ruling.

The questioner : The virtue of the mosque.

The Shaykh : The virtue of the mosque; we would have nullified the fact that praying in it is worth a thousand prayers, and this is, of course, not permissible. Therefore, fiqh says we exclude the Prophet's Mosque from the general ruling, just as we excluded some sunnahs from the general ruling, which is the dislike of praying at the mentioned times. This is the answer.

The questioner : Therefore, this exception and these things that appeared after the death of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) are undoubtedly a scholarly ijtihad, not legislation by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); knowing that his grave was originally within the mosque.

The Shaykh : Of course, this is an incidental matter, and the Prophet would not have approved of it if he had been alive. In fact, Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) stated explicitly that the Prophet said:
Allah has cursed the Jews and the Christians for taking the graves of their prophets as mosques. لعن اليهود والنصارى اتخذوا قبورهم أنبيائهم مساجد
But it was feared (peace and blessings be upon him) that if his grave were placed in open ground, it would enable people to build a mosque over it. Therefore, the wisdom of the Almighty God required that he be buried in the house, where no one has authority over it, and no one can make it a mosque.
Yes.

Eid Abbasi : ... Aisha's statement after her narration of the hadith:
Do not take my grave as a festival. لا تتَّخذوا قبري عيدًا
Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 5:1006
.

Another questioner : ... Previous lessons.

Another questioner : The hadith:
O Allah! Do not make my grave an idol that is worshipped. اللهم لا تجعل قبري وثنًا يُعبد
Muwatta Malik 9:93
.

The Shaykh: Go ahead.
