Discussion on combining prayers for the sake of rain.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The important point is that there is another hadith that permits combining prayers for the sake of rain; it is the hadith of Ibn 'Abbas, who said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) combined the Dhuhr and 'Asr prayers, and the Maghrib and 'Isha' prayers, in Madinah, without travel or rain." They asked: What did he intend by that? He said: He intended not to cause hardship for his Ummah. The indication in this hadith is that the permission of the Messenger (peace be upon him) to combine the two prayers means that if one, for example, prayed 'Asr with Dhuhr, and then heard the call to prayer afterwards, he is not obligated to go to the mosque; because he has performed the obligatory prayer in congregation due to this rain. As for the word "snow," it has not come, to my knowledge, in any of the hadiths. However, if rain provides a dispensation for the mu'adhdhin to say, "Pray in your homes," so that one does not go to the mosque but prays in his house, then snow is even more deserving of this. Likewise, if rain provides a dispensation that permits combining the two prayers while residing in a place, then snow is even more deserving of this. This is correct from the perspective of analogical reasoning, even if we did not find an explicit text.

Eid Abbasi : Is it a condition that the rain be heavy?

The Shaykh : No, the place and time... the place and time, I saw them...
