Q3: Is it obligatory to add a prayer to another prayer; for example, adding the Maghrib prayer to the 'Isha' prayer? And is it appropriate to perform the adhan and iqamah for both?
A3: It is permissible to combine the Maghrib and 'Isha' prayers while resident in the case of heavy rain, illness, or the like. This is done with one adhan for the first of the two and an iqamah for each of them. It is also permissible to do this while traveling, combining Maghrib with 'Isha', and Zuhr with 'Asr, in the time of one of them, with one adhan and two iqamahs, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did so. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
