What is the ruling on clapping with the palms, with evidence?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Clapping with the palms, according to the text of the authentic hadith, is the affair of women. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in a hadith in al-Bukhari and Muslim:
Clapping is for women, and glorification is for men. التصفيق للنساء ، والتسبيح للرجال
, or he placed it first:
Glorification is for men, and clapping is for women. التسبيح للرجال ، والتصفيق
, and in another wording:
And clapping is for women. والتصفيح للنساء
. This is in prayer, in worship, for the purpose of alerting. As for clapping outside of prayer, that is from the worship of the polytheists in the time of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), as our Lord (Blessed and Exalted is He) said in the Qur'an:
And their prayer at the House was not except whistling and handclapping وَمَا كَانَ صَلَاتُهُمْ عِنْدَ الْبَيْتِ إِلَّا مُكَاءً وَتَصْدِيَةً
[Al-Anfal 8:35]
. Tadsiyah is clapping. Therefore, the Muslim should refrain from clapping. Clapping has crept into us from the customs of the disbelievers who have no religion, to teach them the social etiquettes they need. They clap to express surprise or approval of something. As for the etiquette of Islam in this regard—that is, joy and surprise—it is nothing but the remembrance of Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) and His glorification. Perhaps you are aware of the hadith that passed by us in a very recent lesson, the hadith of Abu Tawil, the one with the long name, this man with the strange name who came to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and mentioned to him, in its meaning, that he had not left a need or a desire but he had come to it. Does he have a repentance? The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned to him that he has a repentance, and that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) will reward you for your repentance by making your bad deeds good deeds. So the man left saying: Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, until he disappeared from sight. This is how a Muslim expresses his surprise by glorifying Allah (Mighty and Majestic). As for clapping, it is for women in the state of worship, but in ordinary social situations, it is not from the customs of Muslims; rather, it was from the worship of the polytheists, and today it is from the customs of other polytheists. Therefore.

The questioner : It is admiration, not surprise.

The Shaykh : Yes?

The questioner : It is admiration, not surprise.

The Shaykh : Admiration, what?

The questioner : I mean his surprise at the blessing of Allah, or his realization, in the sense of his astonishment. Admiration means...

The Shaykh : He means, you are right, correct.
This is with regard to clapping.
