Is there an authentic hadith regarding wiping the neck during wudu, or from any of the Companions?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The Shaykh said: Is it authentic from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he wiped his neck during wudu, or from any of his Companions?
This is the first question, and the answer is: No authentic hadith has come from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stating that he wiped his neck or encouraging that. Rather, authentic hadiths have come in al-Bukhari and Muslim and others from a group of the Companions of the Messenger (peace be upon him) that they witnessed his (peace and blessings be upon him) wudu, and none of them mentioned at all that he (peace and blessings be upon him) wiped his neck. Therefore, the correct school among the schools followed today in this issue is the school of Imam al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him), who does not consider wiping the neck to be prescribed (mashru') because it is not established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). As for the hadith:
Wiping the neck is safety from the chains on the Day of Resurrection مسح الرقبة أمانٌ من الغلِّ يوم القيامة
This is a fabricated hadith, as I explained long ago in the beginning of my book "Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Da'ifah" (The Chain of Weak Hadiths). As for whether it came from any of his (peace and blessings be upon him) Companions? That is something we do not know.
