The Shaykh : The point is: The days passed, and the man grew old, and time took its course until he became weary. This is the Sunnah of Allah in His creation:
and you will not find in the way of Allah any change. وَلَنْ تَجِدَ لِسُنَّةِ اللَّهِ تَبْدِيلًا
[Al-Ahzab 33:62]
; at that time, he realized the wisdom of the Wise Lawgiver when He inspired His noble Prophet to say to him:
Keep fast for three days of month صُمْ من كل شهر ثلاثة أيام
Sunan Abi Dawud 1389Sahih (Al-Albani)
only, but he was not satisfied with that except to fast one day and break the fast the next. He also said to him:
Recite the whole of the Qur'An during every month اقرأ القرآن في كلِّ شهر مرة
Sahih Muslim 1159d
, but he was not satisfied with that except to recite the Qur'an in three nights. After much hesitation and a period of time, he said—and here is the point: "I wish I had accepted the dispensation of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)!"
So, if the Muslim knows this reality that our Messenger (may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him) informed us of, namely that if a Muslim has energy for worship but falls ill and is unable to do it, Allah records it for him even if he did not perform it; then why does the Muslim hope to transgress the limits of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and the limits of the Sunnah of His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), as long as these limits are from Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) first, and as long as Allah (Mighty and Majestic) rewards the person even if he is occupied away from those attainable acts of worship due to travel or illness?
So, let a person increase in the prescribed acts of worship so that he may earn their reward and recompense when he becomes unable to perform them due to illness or travel.
