Is one-seventh of a cow sufficient for the 'aqiqah of a girl, by analogy with the 'Id sacrifice?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is one-seventh of a cow sufficient for the 'aqiqah of a girl, by analogy with the 'Id sacrifice?

The Shaykh : The scholars say that there is no sharing in the 'aqiqah, which we call the "tamimah," because the 'aqiqah is an expiation for a soul, and therefore it must be a complete soul. Based on this, it is not permissible for a person to slaughter a camel for seven 'aqiqahs. In fact, the scholars (may Allah have mercy on them) said that slaughtering a sheep is better than slaughtering a camel. That is, if you want to perform the 'aqiqah with a sheep or a camel, it is better for you to perform it with a sheep, because it is the sheep that was mentioned in the Sunnah. Yes.
