Is there zakah on honey, what is the nisab, and what is its amount, since beekeeping has become widespread these days, and is the zakah paid from the honey itself or in cash?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Your Eminence, is there zakah on honey, what is the nisab, and what is its amount, since beekeeping has become widespread these days, and is it paid from the honey itself or in cash?

The Shaykh : Yes, the correct view is that there is no zakah on honey, because this was not reported from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Rather, it was reported from 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that he protected the locations of the bees and took one-tenth from them. Based on this, zakah is not obligatory on honey. However, if a person pays it voluntarily, that is better, and it may even be a cause for the growth of his bees and the increase of his honey. As for it being a necessity such that a person sins by leaving it, there is no evidence for that. Yes.
