Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: "And those in whose wealth is a known right for the questioner and the deprived," and the greatest of these rights is the right of zakah.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : He mentioned those who
within whose wealth is a known right (25) For the petitioner and the deprived - في أموالهم حق معلوم للسائل والمحروم
[Al-Ma'arij 70:24-25]
And among these rights, indeed the greatest of rights in absolute terms is the right of zakah. It is the right of zakah where Satan comes to a person and tries to cast stinginess into his heart so that he does not pay the zakah. Just as Satan comes to a person and casts into his heart that he should not pray, or that he should pray an incomplete prayer, because zakah is one of the pillars of Islam, and Satan does not want the children of Adam to perform the pillars of Islam. For this reason, you find a person making things difficult and creating excuses to pay the zakah, but a feast comes to him with no need for it, and he spends on it more than the zakah due on his wealth, without any hardship on himself. There is no doubt that this is from Satan, that a person is generous with what is not required of him but stingy with what is required of him.
In fact, I say that you find one of us finds it easy to give charity with a large amount of money, but in the case of zakah, it is difficult for him to pay the zakah. You find him giving ten riyals or twenty riyals in charity without it mattering to him. You tell him, "You have zakah due on a hundred riyals, which is two and a half riyals," and it is hard for him to give two and a half riyals, while he gives ten or twenty in charity. Why? Because Satan is eager that the children of Adam not fulfill what Allah has made obligatory upon them.
Although I say that zakah is better than voluntary charity, and the evidence for that is the saying of Allah the Exalted in the Holy Hadith:
And the most beloved things with which My slave comes nearer to Me, is what I have enjoined upon him ما تقرب إلي عبدي بشيء أحب إلي مما افترضت عليه
Sahih al-Bukhari 6502
So two rak'ahs of the obligatory prayer are better than two thousand rak'ahs of voluntary prayer, because it is more beloved to Allah Mighty and Majestic. And were it not that it is more beloved to Allah, Allah would not have made it obligatory upon the servants. Voluntary acts, He left the matter to them; the obligatory acts, He made them obligatory upon them. And this indicates that Allah loves the obligatory acts. Zakah is obligatory on several types of wealth. We will speak of what concerns most people, which is:
