A word by the Shaykh regarding zakah, its virtue, and its status in Islam.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : After this, questions about zakah have become numerous, specifically regarding zakat al-mal and zakat al-fitr. It is well known that we discuss their rulings every year, and I had considered that speaking about them would be a repetition of what has already been said. However, since the questions have increased, and those who attended last year may not have attended this year, and those who attended this year may not have attended before, I saw that there is no harm in speaking about some of the rulings of zakah, both zakat al-mal and zakat al-fitr. I say: It is well known to every Muslim that zakah is one of the pillars of Islam, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Narrated Ibn 'Umar: that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Islam is based upon five: the testimony of La Ilaha Illallah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, the establishment of the Salat, giving the Zakat, fasting (the month of) Ramadan, and performing Hajj to the House." بني الإسلام على خمس شهادة أن لا إله إلا الله وأن محمد رسول الله وإيتاء الزكاة وصوم رمضان وحج بيت الله الحرام
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2609Sahih (Darussalam)
It is also well known to every reader of the Qur'an that zakah is paired with prayer in many places, indeed in most places.
