The questioner : He says: If the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not pray over the one who had a debt upon him, is this specific to him (peace and blessings be upon him), meaning the non-prayer over the debtor, and why do some imams not ask about the deceased over whom they pray?
The Shaykh : The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) used not to pray over the one who had a debt with no means to pay it, as we have said. There is a difference between a man who has standing and consideration in the community, where if he does something, the people follow him and imitate him, and another person who does not have this standing, where doing so will only increase cursing and abuse for him, so he should not do it; he is in no need of this.
