Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He says: My wife has not yet fulfilled the obligation of Hajj. We have a child who is four months old, and he is breastfeeding from his mother. Should she perform Hajj or stay with her child? And is it better if she performs Hajj to take pills to stop the menstrual blood, or not? Please advise us, may Allah guide you.

The Shaykh : If the child is not affected or harmed by her traveling away from him, such as if he is breastfeeding from milk other than his mother's milk and has someone to provide him with complete care, then there is no harm in her performing Hajj, especially if it is an obligatory duty. However, if there is fear for the child, it is not permissible for her to perform Hajj, even if the Hajj is an obligatory duty. This is because a nursing mother is permitted to leave off the obligatory fast if she fears for her child. So how could she not leave off hastening to perform Hajj if she fears for the child? If she fears for the child, it is obligatory for her to stay. If the child grows up next year, she can perform Hajj then. There is no harm in her staying and leaving off Hajj, because in this situation, Hajj is not obligatory for her immediately. As for using pills during Hajj or 'Umrah, there is nothing wrong with it, because this is a pressing need. However, she must seek permission from a doctor and consult with him, because the pills may be harmful and cause her harm.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : No, we do not want to detain people. We pray, and after the prayer we remember Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Whoever prays the rawatib prays the rawatib and then leaves. Now we pray.
