How to return the greeting to someone who greeted you while you are in the bathroom?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
A questioner says, O esteemed Shaykh, after this discussion about the greeting, we would like to know how to return the greeting to someone who greets us while we are in the restroom. What should we do?

The Shaykh : First: the person in the restroom is not greeted until he comes out. However, if it is assumed that someone did greet him, there is no way to return the greeting. If he gestures, the other person will not see it, and if he speaks, he should not invoke Allah the Exalted in such a place. Rather, he should wait until he comes out. If his companion is still there, he returns the greeting to him; otherwise, the obligation to return the greeting is dropped from him, because he was greeted in a state where it was not possible for him to return it.
