Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is it permissible to ride in a car bomb with explosives and enter with it into the midst of the enemies, which is what is now called suicide operations, with evidence?
The Shaykh : We have said repeatedly and again about such a question that in this time it is not permissible, because it is either individual personal actions where the individual usually cannot prioritize the benefit over the harm, or the harm over the benefit. Or, if the matter is not an individual action but rather comes from an organization, a group, or a leadership, this organization, group, or leadership is not a legitimate Islamic authority. In that case, this is considered suicide. As for the evidence, it is well known; there are many hadiths in the two Sahihs and others that whoever kills himself with any tool is in Hell, being tortured with the like of it. Such a suicide operation, as they call it today, is only permissible if there is an Islamic ruling and a Muslim ruler under this ruling who rules by what Allah has revealed and applies the Shari'ah of Allah in all aspects of life, including the military system and the army system, which must also be within the limits of the Shari'ah. If the highest ruler, and thus the supreme commander of the army, sees that it is in the interest of the Muslims to carry out a suicide operation in order to achieve a legitimate benefit, it is this Muslim ruler who assesses it, seeking the help of the people of consultation in his council. Only in this case is such a suicide operation permissible. As for anything other than that, it is not permissible. Yes.
