The Errors of Hassan 'Abd al-Mannan in His Book on the Issue of the Impermissibility of Seeking Assistance from the People of the Book in War

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : It appears that I spoke this truth on a tape, and it is possible to send this tape to your colleague?
Abu Layla : Yes, exactly.

The Shaykh : And he contacted you?
Al-Halabi : After that.

The Shaykh : After that, yes. The important thing is that one of the contemporary scholars engaged in this science, I think, first contacted our brother Abu al-Harith. After that, he took the liberty of contacting me and told me that this is mentioned in al-Isabah as being a Companion. So I explained to him something like what I am telling you now. So now I am surprised that this book, whose research on this point I liked in refuting those who interpret the hadith
We will never seek the help of a polytheist. إنّا لن نستعين بمشرك
.
Al-Halabi : From you to you.

The Shaykh : In truth, I thought the author of this book was our brother Abu al-Harith, because the ideas are exactly my ideas. But I was certain that it was not him when I saw him make that grave error, saying that the collective obligation of jihad is not necessary to consult one's father or mother about. I said, this is not a jurist and not a scholar, and it is not possible for someone like our brother Abu al-Harith to fall into this error; at the very least, he would cooperate with us as we cooperate with him, so it is not possible that it is him. Now I know who it is, and if it is that questioner with whom a discussion took place between me and him, and now Abu Ahmad, as you heard, says that he took the tape containing the detailed statement on this issue.
