Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : What are the types of foods and drinks that a Muslim must rinse his mouth after eating or drinking if he is in a state of wudu for prayer?

The Shaykh : It is not obligatory for a Muslim to rinse his mouth after eating anything, whether it is meat, bread, or otherwise. However, if he eats something that contains fat, it is recommended that he rinse his mouth to purify it from the fat that has stuck to it, whether he is in a state of wudu or not, and whether he intends to pray or not. Foods are of two types: one that is free of fat and one that contains fat. As for the one that contains fat, he should rinse his mouth after it, but it is not obligatory. As for the one that does not contain fat, one looks at it: if it is something that dirties the mouth, he should rinse his mouth after it; if it does not dirty the mouth, he does not rinse his mouth.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
