Does the saying of Allah the Exalted, "And whoever opposes the Messenger after the guidance has become clear to him," apply to the one who abandons prayer, such that he is a disbeliever who will remain in the Fire forever?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : My Shaykh, the verse you mentioned just now, that is the question.

The Shaykh :
And whoever opposes the Messenger
[An-Nisa 4:115]
, Yes.

The questioner : Yes, does it not apply to the one who abandons prayer?

The Shaykh : How...?

The questioner : Some people say, meaning regarding the ruling of declaring the one who abandons prayer a disbeliever.

The Shaykh : It applies to the one who abandons prayer and zakah...

The questioner : Very well.

The Shaykh : What follows from it.
Another questioner: Answer him, my Shaykh.

The Shaykh : No problem.

The questioner : What is it? Both are one; prayer and zakah.

The Shaykh : What is it? We agree with you, both are one.
Another questioner: Answer his state.

The Shaykh : Let us see what is behind the veil, what it is, here.

The questioner : We agree, or as we heard from you, that the one who abandons prayer does not become a disbeliever by creedal disbelief, but rather by practical disbelief.

The Shaykh : Yes, that is right.

The questioner : And it does not take him out of the religion.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : Well, what I am saying about this verse,
And whoever opposes the Messenger
[An-Nisa 4:115]
to its end.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : Well, here at the end he said,
We will give him what he has taken and drive him into Hell, and evil it is as a destination.
[An-Nisa 4:115]
.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : Well, here he entered Hellfire; is this entry into Hellfire eternal or not eternal?

The Shaykh : You have gone off topic like this. Be careful not to go off the line, because your original question was whether he is eternal in the Fire or not. Hold onto the issue from the beginning, not from the end.
Another questioner: Shaykh, the matter after that...
Another questioner: My Shaykh, the matter with you.

The Shaykh : Yes, my brother, opposing is like disbelief...

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Either it is practical and creedal, or practical without creedal...

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : So each person, according to his opposition, receives the punishment promised for him at the end of the verse.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Similarly, He the Exalted said,
And [due] to Allah from the people is a pilgrimage to the House - for whoever is able to find thereto a way
[Ali 'Imran 3:97]
. One person did not perform Hajj, is that not as we agreed? And if Allah wills, we will not turn back on our heels, is that not as we agreed that the one who abandons fasting and Hajj is like the one who abandons prayer...

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Well, what is the ruling on the one who abandons Hajj?

The questioner : Like the ruling on the one who abandons prayer and zakah.

The Shaykh : Good, based on the previous detail.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Well, He the Exalted said,
And [due] to Allah from the people is a pilgrimage to the House - for whoever is able to find thereto a way. But whoever disbelieves - then indeed, Allah is free from need of the worlds.
[Ali 'Imran 3:97]
. Well, this one who did not perform Hajj, the verse gives us an indication that it is disbelief, and Allah is free from the worlds. If all people were to disbelieve, as came in the Holy Hadith,
O My servants, if the first of you and the last of you, and your jinn and your humans, were upon the most righteous heart of one man among you, it would not add anything to My dominion. O My servants, if the first of you and the last of you, and your jinn and your humans, were upon the most wicked heart of one man among you, it would not decrease anything from My dominion. O My servants, it is only your deeds that I tally for you. So whoever finds good, let him praise Allah, and whoever finds other than that, let him blame no one but himself.
. So here, the verse did not say,
But whoever disbelieves - then indeed, Allah is free from need of the worlds.
[Ali 'Imran 3:97]
. This one who did not perform Hajj has two states, like the one who abandons prayer. He did not perform Hajj out of laziness, or he did not perform Hajj because he was occupied with the world, but he admits that it is obligatory for him to perform Hajj and he blames himself. If he were told, "Why, my brother, did you not...?" He would say, "May Allah turn to us in mercy," "May Allah make it easy for us," and so on. As for that disbeliever, he tells you, "My brother, this is an old fashion..." and so on. This one is eternal in the Fire, and that one is not eternal in the Fire.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Similarly, the one who opposes the Messenger, yes, that is right. So he has the punishment corresponding to it. If the opposition is due to creed, he is eternal in the Fire...

The questioner : Allah is the Helper.

The Shaykh : Is the answer clear?

The questioner : It is clear.

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah.
