The questioner : The questioner says: We seek a comprehensive answer regarding the ruling on colored contact lenses for adornment, especially since women have been afflicted with them. What is the ruling on using such lenses for women who adorn themselves for their husbands?
The Shaykh : As for if the woman’s eye is deformed, there is no blame on her if she wears a lens that makes it beautiful, because this is not from changing the creation of Allah, since this lens is not permanent; rather, whenever she wishes, she removes it. It is not possible to liken it to tattooing, whose doer was cursed. As for if the eye is sound but she wants to increase its perfection, we say: It is better not to do it, because of the fatigue and the wasting of money in obtaining it, and the fatigue in inserting and removing it. Also, it may harm the eye. Therefore, it is necessary to consult a doctor before taking any step in this path. As for if this lens is in the shape of the eyes of animals, this is forbidden, because likening a human to an animal means that he has lowered his rank, which Allah placed him in, to a rank below it. For this reason, likening to animals did not occur except in a position of blame. Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, said:[Al-A'raf 7:175-176] He said, “His likeness is like the likeness of a dog,” as a blame and an uglification. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Sahih Muslim 1622g He likened him to a dog as a warning and an uglification. And He, the Exalted, said regarding the Children of Israel, or rather specifically the Jews: [Al-Jumu'ah 62:5] And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Bulugh al-Maram 2:374 You will find that likening the descendants of Adam to animals only occurs in a position of blame. If a person likens himself to an animal by placing something in his eye, he has lowered himself from the rank that Allah placed him in. And Allah, the Exalted, says: [Al-Isra 17:70] Based on this, we say in summary of the answer: First, before anything else and before taking any step, one asks the doctor: Does this harm the eye or not? If it harms it, it is prohibited, because it is not permissible for a person to consume what harms his body, due to the saying of Allah, the Exalted: [An-Nisa 4:29] If the doctor says that the harm is absent, we look at whether the woman needs it because her vision is weak and she needs to strengthen it, or because her eye is deformed and she needs to beautify it; in that case, there is nothing wrong with it. If there is no need, we look at whether this lens is not similar to the eyes of animals; in that case, there is nothing wrong with it, but leaving it is better, because keeping a thing in its natural state is preferable, and because in that is the wasting of money and the wasting of time in inserting and removing it. Or, does this lens make the eye similar to the eye of an animal, like the eye of a rabbit or the like? In that case, it is forbidden, because likening to animals did not occur in the texts of the Book and the Sunnah except in a position of blame.

(175) And recite to them, [O Muhammad], the news of him to whom we gave [knowledge of] Our signs, but he detached himself from them; so Satan pursued him, and he became of the deviators. (176) And if We had willed, we could have elevated him thereby, but he adhered [instead] to the earth and followed his own desire. So his example is like that of the dog: if you chase him, he pants, or if you leave him, he [still] pants. That is the example of the people who denied Our signs. So relate the stories that perhaps they will give thought.
One who gets back his gift is like a dog which vomits and then swallows that vomit.
The example of those who were entrusted with the Torah and then did not take it on is like that of a donkey who carries volumes [of books]. Wretched is the example of the people who deny the signs of Allah. And Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.
Whoever speaks on Friday while the Imam is giving the Khutbah (religious talk), he is like a donkey which carries books
And We have certainly honored the children of Adam and carried them on the land and sea and provided for them of the good things and preferred them over much of what We have created, with [definite] preference.
And do not kill yourselves [or one another]. Indeed, Allah is to you ever Merciful.
