We request an explanation of the hadith regarding the descent (meaning the descent of the Lord, Glorified and Exalted is He), given that the last third of the night varies from one region to another.

The questioner : If you please, explain the hadith regarding the descent, noting that the last third of the night varies from one region to another.

The Shaykh : This question, my brother, is based on matter, and what poses a problem regarding matter does not pose a problem regarding the Creator of matter. Now, I always say, absolutely not: can a scholar, however much knowledge and intelligence he may have, be like the four or five people speaking with me now, or with that scholar I mentioned to you earlier, understanding from here and understanding from there, giving an answer for this and an answer for that? Is that possible? Your question is similar to this, because your question is about the Creator of matter. Therefore, the Creator is not measured by the created, and the rulings of the created are not applied to the Creator. Even if you say there is a problem in this, it is true that the last third of the night exists in every moment; it is not just that we can divide the Earth into four sections, for example, as they say regarding the rising and setting of the sun, where there is a rising in every moment and a setting in every moment, correct?

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : But the Knower of the Unseen, who organized this universe and informed us that He descends every night, He knows and manages His own affairs, my brothers.

The questioner : Hehehe.
The Shaykh: So why are you carrying this worry? Glory be to Allah. Please, go ahead.
