The questioner : The questioner says that he is married and praises Allah, and that his wife gave birth to a son, but before he completed his second year of age, she gave birth again. Is there a sin on us for that, because the noble verse says:
Mothers may breastfeed their children two complete years وَالْوَالِدَاتُ يُرْضِعْنَ أَوْلادَهُنَّ حَوْلَيْنِ كَامِلَيْنِ
[Al-Baqarah 2:233]
?

The Shaykh : There is no sin on you if the children are consecutive; rather, you have a reward. For the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:
Marry those who are loving and fertile تزوّجوا الودود الولود
meaning those who give birth to many children.
As for the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Mothers may breastfeed their children two complete years وَالْوَالِدَاتُ يُرْضِعْنَ أَوْلادَهُنَّ حَوْلَيْنِ كَامِلَيْنِ
[Al-Baqarah 2:233]
, this does not contradict having many children. It is possible to breastfeed the previous child after the mother becomes pregnant with the next child. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to prohibit *ghaylah*, which is a pregnant woman breastfeeding a child. He said:
Then I saw the Persians and the Romans practicing *ghaylah*, and it does not harm their children in any way ثم رأيت فارس والروم يغيلون ولا يضرُّ أولادهم شيئاً
So he did not prohibit it. I say to my brother the questioner: May Allah bless you in your family and your child, and increase you in children and wealth. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good. This is a message received from a listener of the program who says:
