The questioner : Allah the Exalted said: [Sad 38:41] Question: What is the interpretation of this noble verse? Is the hardship and punishment that befalls the believers from Satan? And are not the prophets and messengers protected from the touch of the devils? May Allah reward you with good.
The Shaykh : His saying, Blessed and Exalted is He, regarding Job:[Sad 38:41] Allah the Exalted said: [Sad 38:42] “Hardship” means fatigue, and “punishment” means distress and sadness. We do not know the manner in which Satan touched him, but it is obligatory for us to believe in it. Satan cannot dominate the prophets by causing them to commit a sin, because the prophets are protected from sins. As for any sins that may occur from them, they do not persist in them. They, the prophets (peace and blessings be upon them), are protected from anything that compromises the message. As for what does not compromise the message, it may occur from them, but they do not persist in it; rather, they must be granted success to repent, so they repent, and Allah accepts their repentance.

And remember Our servant Job, when he called to his Lord, "Indeed, Satan has touched me with hardship and torment."
وَاذْكُرْ عَبْدَنَا أَيُّوبَ إِذْ نَادَى رَبَّهُ أَنِّي مَسَّنِيَ الشَّيْطَانُ بِنُصْبٍ وَعَذَابٍThe Shaykh : His saying, Blessed and Exalted is He, regarding Job:
