The Shaykh’s explanation that people are of two categories in terms of knowledge and ignorance, and what relates to that regarding receiving the Book and the Sunnah.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : I said to him, the text of the Noble Qur'an has made people of two categories in terms of knowledge and ignorance. It made them scholars, who are those who understand the Book and the Sunnah, and their counterparts are the non-scholars, whom we mean by the ignorant, who do not understand the Book and the Sunnah. They are two categories, and each of the two categories has its obligatory duty by the text of the Noble Qur'an. Allah the Exalted said:
So ask the people of the message if you do not know. فاسألوا أهل الذكر إن كنتم لا تعلمون
[An-Nahl 16:43]
Here He is addressing the Ummah in its entirety, in its scholars and its ignorant, in its literate and its illiterate, saying: You are two groups, scholars and non-scholars. The non-scholars have to ask the scholars
So ask the people of the message if you do not know. فاسألوا أهل الذكر إن كنتم لا تعلمون
[An-Nahl 16:43]
This is what we call people to, but we may differ with the opponents regarding the concept of knowledge and the scholar. What is knowledge? And who is the scholar?
