The Shaykh : The rising of the sun from the west is mentioned in the Noble Qur'an, as is well known. As for the day it rises from the west, on that day no soul's faith will benefit it unless it had already believed before. This undoubtedly requires a great deal of faith, especially among people who study modern science, astronomy, and the like, and who are predominantly inclined—except for those whom Allah wills—to adhere to the systems and the laws they call cosmic or natural laws. Then they forget, and some deny, the One who established these laws and organized this magnificent organization. The rising of the sun from the west means, without a doubt, the reversal of the system of this universe. This reversal is not something that any believer's heart can accommodate in believing in it, except the heart of every believer who has believed in his Lord, Mighty and Majestic, and that He is the Doer of what He wills and what He desires, and the Creator as He wills and as He desires, as the Exalted said: [Al-Qasas 28:68]. In fact, the rising of the sun from the west is... the system of this universe from its origin, as mentioned in many noble verses: [At-Takwir 81:1-3]. All of this indicates that this universe, organized in this manner, will be dealt with by the Lord of the Worlds in a way that changes in this universe whatever He wills of change, as He said: [Ibrahim 14:48]. So among the earliest indications of this radical change is the rising of the sun from the west. The One who raises it every day from its east is not incapable of raising it from its west, as a sign that this worldly life has ended. Therefore, the previous description came that on the day the sun rises, no soul's faith will benefit it unless it had believed before. This is the first of the conditions of the Hour, which scholars have agreed to call the conditions of the major Hour. The Messenger, may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him, says here: . This is because the matter at that time is serious. The sinful Muslim, if he does not repent before its rising, his repentance will not benefit him. The disbeliever, if he does not repent from his disbelief, his repentance will not benefit him, and so on. So here, it is obligatory to hasten to repentance from righteous deeds, and even more so, it is imperative that disbelievers and hypocrites hasten to return to their Lord and believe in their Islam.
