I have a sister who is a talebearer; is it permissible to go to her house and visit her?

The questioner : The question is also for women: My sister is a talebearer who constantly talks about people, about so-and-so and such-and-such; is it permissible to go to her house and visit her, or not?
The Shaykh : I say it is obligatory, not merely permissible; it is obligatory to go to her house while following up with advising her. As for so-and-so who does such-and-such, we cut off ties with her and abandoned her, so who will reform her? One must visit her and one must follow up with advice. For that reason, he (peace be upon him) said in the well-known authentic hadith:. They said: For whom, O Messenger of Allah? He said: Sahih Muslim 55a. So this woman is among the general Muslim community, and we must advise her. When do we not go to her? When it becomes clear to us that she is a woman who causes corruption and that she has absolutely no willingness to retract from her talebearing or from her backbiting of people; at that time we cut off ties with her, perhaps Allah (Mighty and Majestic) will guide her to the right path.

Religion is advice, religion is advice, religion is advice
