I have three thousand riyals and a lunar year has passed over them, so what is their zakah?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : I have three thousand riyals and a lunar year has passed over them, so what is their zakah?

The Shaykh : The zakah on dirhams is one in forty, which is a quarter of a tenth, or two and a half percent. Accordingly, the zakah on one thousand is twenty-five riyals, the zakah on two thousand is fifty riyals, and the zakah on three thousand is seventy-five riyals. If you wish to know the amount of zakah, no matter how much the wealth is, divide what you have by forty; whatever results from the division is the zakah. For example, if a person has forty thousand, its zakah is one thousand, because if you divide forty by forty, the result of the division is one. And so you calculate.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
