Can a human marry a jinni woman? And is that permissible?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is it permissible to marry?

The Shaykh : No, do not record this. Is the question whether it is permissible according to the Shari'ah?

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : Are you insisting on your question?

The questioner : Yes, did you understand the content?

The Shaykh : I understood the content, and the content I understood indicates that your question is wrong or correct?

The questioner : The content you understood is not the content I understood.

The Shaykh : How?

The questioner : ... the content I understood.

The Shaykh : Glory be to Allah! I am telling you in clear Arabic, not in insulting Albanian. I told you: do you mean is it not permissible according to the Shari'ah, or is it not possible for a marriage to occur between a human and a jinni?

The questioner : What has reached me is that a marriage can occur, but I ask: is it permissible according to the Shari'ah?

The Shaykh : So that is the answer. You are insisting. You say you understood the content, but I did not understand the content. Now I have understood the content... I understood that it is possible by a text from the Qur'an? By a text from the Sunnah? Where did you learn that from?

The questioner : I heard the Shaykh "al-Sharqawi" speak about this issue on a tape.

The Shaykh : And what did he say?

The questioner : He spoke about the story of a man who wanted to marry a jinni woman. Also, one of the brothers informed me that Malik was asked about this issue.

The Shaykh : Who?

The questioner : One of the brothers informed me; I did not see it with my own eyes, but he informed me that Malik was asked? He said: No, so that a fornicator does not come and say: I married a jinni woman.

The Shaykh : Malik? Imam Malik?

The questioner : I was told so, I did not see it.

The Shaykh : I am now recounting to you what I read in the biography of the great Sufi "Muhyi al-Din ibn 'Arabi," the unknown one. Do you know him?

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : This was in Damascus. He used to say that a human cannot marry a jinni woman due to the difference in nature. One day he was seen with a bandage on his forehead, so he was asked about the reason, and he answered that he had a disagreement with his jinni wife, so she threw a "quqbub" at him, which hit his forehead or brow; so this bandage is for that reason. Al-Dhahabi accused him of lying; because previously he used to say: this is not possible due to the difference in nature, and now he says: I am married to a jinni woman, and I had a disagreement with her and she threw a quqbub at me!
Now, if the intention is for a human to marry a jinni woman, or a jinni to marry a human woman; then either the intention is that they intermarry while the jinni or jinni woman remains in its natural state, and has not taken the form of a human being; because it is capable of doing so. If it is in the second sense, it is possible, but in the other sense, the first one, it is not possible; because it was created from fire, and the children of Adam were created from clay; so how can it be conceivable that intermarriage is possible between those who differ in the nature of their creation; this one is from fire and this one is from clay?! And therefore, if we can reach a factual reality that intermarriage occurred between them; then that would be after the jinni takes the form of a human or human woman, but with remaining in the original state; this is not conceivable, with the absence of such intermarriage in the Book and the Sunnah.
