The Shaykh : There are some verses that have been interpreted by opinion, and no direct explanation regarding them has come from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Some later scholars have taken it upon themselves to interpret them by applying the verse to the madhhab. This is a very serious point, where verses are interpreted to support the madhhab, while scholars of tafsir have interpreted them differently from how the people of that madhhab interpreted them. We can bring to mind an example of this from the saying of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, in Surat al-Muzzammil: [Al-Muzzammil 73:20] [Al-Muzzammil 73:20] Some madhhabs interpreted this by the recitation itself, meaning that the obligatory amount of Qur'an in all prayers is only one long verse or three short verses. This is despite the existence of the authentic hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) where he said: And in the other hadith: The indication of these two hadiths was rejected by interpreting the aforementioned verse on the claim that it generalized the recitation. They said the verse states: [Al-Muzzammil 73:20] So these later scholars from the madhhab followers said: It is not permissible to interpret the Qur'an except with the mutawatir Sunnah. Returning to the discussion of the mutawatir hadith, they said it is not permissible to interpret the Qur'an except with the mutawatir Sunnah, meaning it is not permissible to interpret the mutawatir except with the mutawatir. They rejected the two aforementioned hadiths based on their understanding of the verse, as it appears to the reader at first glance: [Al-Muzzammil 73:20] But the scholars clarified, all scholars of tafsir, there is no difference between those who came before and those who came after, that the intended meaning of the noble verse is: "So pray what is easy for you of the night prayer." This is because Allah, Mighty and Majestic, mentioned this verse in the context of His saying, Blessed and Exalted is He, in Surat al-Muzzammil: [Al-Muzzammil 73:20] until He said: [Al-Muzzammil 73:20] It is not obligatory for them to pray what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray, as you know, eleven rak'ahs. This is the meaning of the verse, and this is in the Arabic style of mentioning the part while intending the whole: meaning: "So pray the prayer," where the prayer is the whole and the recitation is the part.
