The Prophet's (peace be upon him) interpretation of the Qur'an

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Did the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) interpret any part of the Noble Qur'an?

Answer:
Yes, he interpreted a great deal for the Companions and clarified much for them. He would recite the Qur'an to them (peace and blessings be upon him) and explain its meaning, sometimes in gatherings, sometimes in sermons, and sometimes he would have the Qur'an recited to him and explain (peace and blessings be upon him) what people needed.
So he (peace and blessings be upon him) interpreted many verses, and many others were interpreted by the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them and grant them satisfaction), such as Ibn Mas'ud, Ibn Abbas, and others, and likewise the Tabi'un (the generation after the Companions) regarding other verses that became apparent to them; for the Qur'an interprets part of itself, and then the Sunnah interprets what is hidden in the Qur'an.
Likewise, some words are interpreted based on what is known of the Arabic language; for Allah revealed it in their language, in the Arabic tongue. So words related to language are interpreted by the Arabic language, and rulings are interpreted by other verses; for the Qur'an interprets part of itself, and some of it was interpreted by the Sunnah from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
