The questioner : The honorable Shaykh says the Quranists say, Allah the Exalted said
And everything We have set out in detail.
[Al-Isra 17:12]
and He said
We have not neglected in the Register a thing
[Al-An'am 6:38]
and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said
Indeed, this Quran has one end in the hand of Allah and the other end in your hands, so hold fast to it and you will not go astray
We ask you, your honor, to comment on this?

The Shaykh : As for the saying of Allah the Exalted
We have not neglected in the Register a thing
[Al-An'am 6:38]
, this verse refers to the Book here as the Preserved Tablet, not the Noble Quran. If you refer to the books of tafsir, you will find this clear and evident.
We have not neglected in the Register
[Al-An'am 6:38]
means in the Preserved Tablet. As for
And everything We have set out in detail.
[Al-Isra 17:12]
You know that detail can sometimes be by generalization, by establishing general rules; if the Muslim understands them, the particulars fall under them, and these particulars cannot be enumerated due to their multitude. By the wise Lawgiver establishing known rules for these numerous particulars, that can be considered detail, as mentioned in the noble verse. And there is another type of detail, which is what is implied by this verse, as he (peace be upon him) said in the hadith that Imam al-Shafi'i narrated in his Sunan from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), that he said
I have not left anything that brings you closer to Allah and keeps you away from the Fire except that I have commanded you with it, and I have not left anything that keeps you away from Allah and brings you closer to the Fire except that I have forbidden it
. So detail is sometimes by rules under which many particulars fall, and sometimes by detailing individual acts of worship and rulings in a way that does not require referring to a rule. For example, from these rules that encompass many branches and display the greatness of Islam and the breadth of the scope of Islam in legislation, is the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), for example,
It was narrated from 'Ubadah bin Samit that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ruled: “There should be neither harming nor reciprocating harm.”
Sunan Ibn Majah 2340Da'if (Darussalam)
and his saying (peace be upon him)
Every intoxicant is Khamr (wine) and every Khamr is unlawful.
Sunan Ibn Majah 3390Hasan (Darussalam)
and his saying (peace be upon him)
every innovation is going astray, and every going astray is in the Fire
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1578Sahih (Darussalam)
. These are rules and generalities that do not miss anything related to harm to the self or harm to wealth in the first hadith, and what is related to intoxicants, whether the intoxicant is derived from grapes as is well known, or from corn, or from any other material. As long as it is intoxicating, it is forbidden
Every intoxicant is Khamr (wine) and every Khamr is unlawful.
Sunan Ibn Majah 3390Hasan (Darussalam)
. Likewise, in the third hadith
Every innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Fire
, it is not possible to enumerate innovations due to their multitude, nor to list them, and yet this hadith, despite its brevity, says with clarity beyond clarity
every innovation is going astray, and every going astray is in the Fire
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1578Sahih (Darussalam)
. This is detail by rules, and the rulings you know are detail by individuals, most of which are mentioned in the Sunnah, and sometimes, like the rulings of inheritance mentioned in the Noble Quran. As for the hadith that was mentioned, it is an authentic hadith, and acting upon it is what we are able to hold fast to. And as mentioned in the hadith we cited before the prayer
You will not go astray as long as you hold fast to them, the Book of Allah and my Sunnah
, holding fast to the rope of Allah, which is in our hands, is acting upon the Sunnah that details the Noble Quran. Yes.
