The Shaykh's response to some doubts that suggest the prohibition of touching the mushaf.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : As for the doubts and issues raised on this occasion, they are not strong. For example, citing the noble verse
None touch it except the purified.
[Al-Waqi'ah 56:79]
to prohibit the one in a state of major ritual impurity and the menstruating woman from touching the Qur'an is an oversight of the fact that the verse is not intended to discuss such a ruling regarding humans. Rather, it was brought to speak about the Mother of the Qur'an, its origin, which is the Preserved Tablet from which this Qur'an that is in our hands was revealed. So His saying, Blessed and Exalted is He,
No one touches it لا يمسه
refers to the hidden Book, as He, Mighty and Majestic, said:
And it is indeed a noble Qur'an in a hidden Book, a revelation from the Lord of the worlds, none touch it except the purified ones
This hidden Book is the one that none touch except the purified ones. Our Qur'an is not described as hidden; rather, it is manifest and clear. It is its origin, which is in the Preserved Tablet, that is the one that none touch except the purified ones. Therefore, the intended meaning of "the purified ones" is the angels brought near, not humans, for many reasons, among which is the context of the verse:
(78) In a Register well-protected; (79) None touch it except the purified.
[Al-Waqi'ah 56:78-79]
This hidden Book is not reached by the hands of the devils
And the devils have not brought the revelation down.
[Ash-Shu'ara 26:210]
. Likewise, it came in Surat Abasa as an explanation of this noble verse: none touch it except the purified ones. Even Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) said in his book al-Muwatta: "The best I have heard in the interpretation of this verse
None touch it except the purified.
[Al-Waqi'ah 56:79]
is that it is like the one in Surat Abasa:
(11) No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; (12) So whoever wills may remember it. (13) [It is recorded] in honored sheets, (14) Exalted and purified, (15) [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, (16) Noble and dutiful.
['Abasa 80:11-16]
"
These are the noble, purified scribes who are the purified ones in the previous verse. And other things we benefited from Ibn al-Qayyim in his book *Categories of the Qur'an*, which indicates that the purified ones are the angels, not humans. This is because the righteous among humans, let alone the wicked, are not "purified" (mutahhar) but rather "one who purifies himself" (mutatthir). There is a difference in the Arabic language between the one who is purified by nature and the one who purifies himself. The one who is purified by nature is created pure, while the one who purifies himself is one who became impure and then purified himself. Therefore, He, the Exalted, said:
Within it are men who love to purify themselves
[At-Tawbah 9:108]
referring to the Mosque of Quba, which was for the Ansar, and Allah praised them by saying, Mighty and Majestic:
Within it are men who love to purify themselves
[At-Tawbah 9:108]
Similarly, His saying, the Exalted:
Indeed, Allah loves those who are constantly repentant and loves those who purify themselves." إن الله يحب التوابين ويحب المتطهرين
[Al-Baqarah 2:222]
He did not say "He loves the purified ones" because there is no merit in that; something Allah, Mighty and Majestic, created pure is not praised for it. But the thing created capable of becoming impure and then purifying itself—those are the ones who are praised. So the verse
None touch it except the purified.
[Al-Waqi'ah 56:79]
has absolutely no relation to this topic. Rather, it speaks about the origin of this Qur'an, which is in the Preserved Tablet, and that the angels are the ones who brought it down to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and the devils did not bring it down.

The questioner : The third question.
