Transmission of some reports from the scholars regarding the preference of hadith over qiyas and the like.

The Shaykh : The Imam al-Shafi'i said in "al-Risalah": "It is obligatory to accept the report at the time when it is established, even if no practice of the Imams has been carried out in accordance with the report."
And the scholar Ibn al-Qayyim said in "I'lam al-Muwaqqi'in": "The Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him) did not prefer any practice, opinion, qiyas, or the statement of a companion over an authentic hadith, nor did he prefer the lack of knowledge of a contradicting opinion—which many people call 'ijma' (scholarly consensus) and prefer over an authentic hadith. Ahmad refuted those who claimed this ijma' and did not transmit the preference of it over an established hadith. Likewise, al-Shafi'i explicitly stated in his new Risalah that what is known to have a contradiction is not called 'ijma.' The texts of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) are more evident to Imam Ahmad and the other Imams of hadith than to prefer a suspected ijma'—whose content is the lack of knowledge of a contradiction—over them. If that were permissible, the texts would be rendered inoperative, and it would be permissible for anyone who does not know of a contradiction in the ruling of an issue to prefer his ignorance of the contradiction over the texts."
