The Shaykh : And similar to the two previous hadiths is the following hadith, with which we conclude this lesson. It is his saying: "And from Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When Allah (Mighty and Majestic) tests a Muslim servant with a trial in his body, Allah (Mighty and Majestic) says to the angel: Write for him the good deeds he used to do. And if He heals him, He washes him and purifies him. إذا ابتلى الله عز وجل العبد المسلم ببلاء في جسده قال الله عز و جل للملك اكتب له صالح عمله الذي كان يعمل وإن شفاه غسّله وطهّره
— meaning that his illness was an expiation for him, as mentioned in previous hadiths —
And if He heals him, He washes him and purifies him. And if He takes him, He forgives him and has mercy on him. وإن شفاه غسّله وطهّره وإن قبضه غفر له ورحمه
Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 5:31
