Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : When a servant calls upon his Lord with the words: "O Allah, guide me to what I aspire to, and do not make me one of the despairing," is there any error in this supplication in his saying: "I aspire"?
The Shaykh : There is no error in it if he aspires to good, such as beneficial knowledge, righteous deeds, good character, and the like. However, it is better to specify, saying: "O Allah, guide me to what You love and are pleased with. O Allah, guide me to sincerity for Your sake. O Allah, guide me to following Your Messenger. O Allah, guide me to the best of character and deeds, and the like."
