What are the categories of supernatural events?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Why did they say that?
They said it because supernatural events are divided into three categories: the prophetic miracle, the miracle granted to a righteous person, and being led astray. The prophetic miracle comes from the Prophet, the miracle granted to a righteous person comes from a close friend of Allah, and being led astray comes from the disbeliever and the hypocrite. You do not need us to speak about prophetic miracles, for they are numerous in the Book and the Sunnah, as Allah wills. The miracles granted to righteous people are also numerous, and the sincere, righteous awliya (close friends of Allah) have many of them, and praise be to Allah.
Every time Zechariah entered upon her in the prayer chamber, he found with her provision. كلما دخل عليها زكريا المحراب وجد عندها رزقا
[Ali 'Imran 3:37]
This was a miracle granted to Maryam (peace be upon her). There are also books written on this subject, and the best of them is a book by Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him). What is its name? Yes.

The questioner : ...

The Shaykh: Remind us of its name, everyone.

The questioner : ...

The Shaykh: No, the point is that the matter we should discuss is being led astray. It has come in many authentic, indeed mass-transmitted, hadiths that the greater Dajjal, in the end times, will say to the sky, "Rain," and it will rain. He will say to the earth, "Sprout your vegetation," and it will sprout. He will say to the barren land, "Bring out your treasures," and they will come out and follow him. He will cut a man in two with a sword and then bring him back to life. Are these miracles? These are supernatural events that Allah performs through this greater Dajjal about whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) informed us, saying:
Between the creation of Adam and the Hour, there is a greater trial than the trial of the Messiah al-Dajjal. ما بين خلق آدم والساعة فتنة أكبر من فتنة المسيح الدجال
So this is the Messiah al-Dajjal who brings about these supernatural events. Therefore, a supernatural event does not necessarily indicate righteousness. Righteousness is the righteous deed. That is why the aforementioned poet said:
"If you see a person who can fly, who flies"
without wings, not by airplane. The disbelievers fly and they preceded us in flight.
"If you see a person who can fly and walk upon the sea"
"and does not stand at the limits of the Shari'ah, then he is being led astray and is an innovator"
These are the people who strike themselves with skewers. These are exercises, and one of the greatest proofs of this is that if you say to one of them, "Bring me, I will strike you with a small knife," he will say to you, "No." "Me?" If he truly possesses a miracle granted to a righteous person, let his miracle be for anyone to strike him anywhere. He says, "No." Why? Because he is not trained to strike himself here in the chest, in the heart, or here, or here, but only here, where the bone is, where the flesh is, not where the nerves are and where the bones are.
