The questioner : Regarding the chain of narration, for example, al-Bukhari or Muslim narrates a hadith from Qatadah from Anas, and if I find it in a book, for example, that compiles the additional narrations to the two authentic collections, for instance, from Hammad ibn Salih from Anas, does this serve as a justification for tracing the hadith, meaning the additional narrations?

The Shaykh : May Allah reward you for this. It depends on the author's convention. If he intends by the term "additional narrations" not only the texts but also the chains of narration, especially if the chain found in the two authentic collections or in one of them contains a defect noted by some hadith scholars, then he finds for the same text found in the authentic collection another route that is more authentic than the route in the authentic collection. This is undoubtedly a benefit that should be recorded. However, it should be stated in the introduction that he did not limit himself to additional narrations of the texts only, but also to the chains of narration with this benefit to which we have alluded.
