Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The student : Regarding visiting graves, is it permissible to mark a specific grave with the intention of visiting it? For example, a friend was buried in al-Baqi'. Is it permissible to mark his grave, go to it, stand over it, and make du'a' for him?

The Shaykh : It is permissible, because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
I am marking my brother's grave with it, and I shall bury beside him those of my family who die. أعلم به قبر أخي وادفن إليه من مات من أهلي
Sunan Abi Dawud 3206Hasan (Al-Albani)
. However, it is not befitting that any exaggeration (ghuluw) result from this.
