The questioner : The questioner says: I have a daughter. If I breastfeed her for less than two years and breastfeed her brother for a longer period, is it forbidden for me on the basis of equalizing between the children in breastfeeding?
The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and I send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow them in excellence until the Day of Judgment. Equalizing between the children in spending on food, drink, breastfeeding, and other matters is done according to need. So if the daughter needs two years of breastfeeding and the son needs only one and a half years, there is no harm in limiting his breastfeeding to one and a half years and giving her two years, just as in spending: if this child needs ten dirhams a day and his older brother needs twenty, there is no harm in giving them different amounts to meet their needs.
The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
