The ruling on breastfeeding an adult man out of necessity

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is it permissible to breastfeed an adult man in a case of necessity, as in the story of Salim, the freed slave of Abu Hudhayfah, where his foster mother became forbidden to him? And how do you reconcile this with his saying
Look at your brothers, for indeed breastfeeding is due to hungerانظرن من إخوانكم، فإنما الرضاعة من المجاعة
?

Answer:
The correct view: is that breastfeeding an adult does not take place, and it does not result in prohibition. This is what the scholars have said, that the majority of the scholars hold that it was specific to Salim and Suhailah, the daughter of Suhayl, and as the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) issued a ruling to this effect, except for A'ishah.
So the correct view: that breastfeeding an adult has no effect and no ruling, and breastfeeding only has an effect within the two years; due to the hadith:
Be sure about your foster brothers, as fostership is only valid if it takes place in the suckling period (before two years of age).انظرن من إخوانكن؛ فإنما الرضاعة من المجاعة
Sahih al-Bukhari 2647
narrated by the two Shaykhs, al-Bukhari and Muslim, in the two Sahihs, and due to the hadith:
Suckling applies only (to infants) during the first two years (of their life).لا رضاع إلا في الحولين
Bulugh al-Maram 8:198
and another hadith:
The suckling that makes marriage unlawful is that which reaches the intestines (i.e. nourishes the child), and is taken before (two years) time of weaning.لا رضاع إلا ما فتق الأمعاء، وكان قبل الفطام
Bulugh al-Maram 8:197
.
So the correct view: that breastfeeding only results in prohibition if it occurs within the two years.

Question: And the story of Salim?

Answer: It is understood as a specific exception, and this is the stronger position.
