What is the correct understanding of the hadiths that command adherence to the group in light of reality.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Al-Halabi : The brother questioner asks, saying: There are several Prophetic hadiths in which there is a command to adhere to the group. What is the understanding of these hadiths in light of reality?

The Shaykh : The answer is in the well-known hadith in the Sunan, which is his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
The Jews split into seventy-one sects, and the Christians split into seventy-two sects, and my Ummah will split into seventy-three sects, all in the Fire except one. They said: Who are they, O Messenger of Allah? He said: It is the group.
This is the answer, but a question arises regarding this answer, so it is necessary to detail the answer. If we understand that the group intended by this hadith is the answer to the question just raised, the explanation of this answer, which is the group, has come in another narration, which is his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
It is the one that is upon what I and my Companions are upon.
So, look, O lost Muslim, amidst these groups existing today among the Muslims in every country, let alone the entire Islamic world. Look, and whoever is upon the Book and the Sunnah, and the authentic Sunnah, in creed, action, worship, and conduct, it is obligatory for you to be with this group and none other, absolutely. This is among the meanings of His saying (Glorified and Exalted is He) in the Noble Qur'an:
and be with those who are true.
[At-Tawbah 9:119]
And it is not permissible for any young Muslim to become partisan, or to form a faction, or to pledge allegiance to any of these groups existing on the face of the earth, because the pledge of allegiance in Islam is only for a man who is the only one to be pledged to, and the only one who manages the affairs of Islam and the Muslims, and rules them by the Book of Allah and the Hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). And with great regret, this person does not exist today. Therefore, there is no person to pledge allegiance to today, because the pledge of allegiance is only for the Caliph of the Muslims. But
be with those who are true.
[At-Tawbah 9:119]
Here is a group, and there is a group, and there is a group in this country, and in the neighboring country, and in the distant town. Groups that you consider to be upon the Book and the Sunnah, and their actions are upon the Book and the Sunnah, and their morals are likewise. So it is obligatory for you to be with them, because they are the group, and they are the ones intended finally by his saying (peace and blessings be upon him) in the authentic, indeed mass-transmitted hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him):
A group of people from my Umma will always remain triumphant on the right path and continue to be triumphant (against their opponents). He who deserts them shall not be able to do them any harm. They will remain in this position until Allah's Command is executed (i.e. Qiyamah is established).
Sahih Muslim 1920
or
until Allah's Command is executed
Sahih Muslim 1920
So, adhere to the group that is upon the Book and the Sunnah, and beware of deviating from it, as came in the authentic hadith:
for the wolf eats up a solitary sheep that stays far from the flock
Riyad as-Salihin 1070
And it should not be that the Muslim people are ignorant, living a trial by living with a group for a long time, then not increasing in knowledge, nor increasing in jurisprudence, nor increasing in worship, nor excellence in conduct. This means that they are living in clear loss. So it is upon the Muslim to choose from those who are truthful to this meaning that you heard in the hadith of the saved sect, to be with the group in the concept explained in the other narration, which is upon what the Messenger and his Companions were upon. It is not hidden from any person that this group cannot be so except with knowledge, and knowledge is the Book and the Sunnah. So whoever has no knowledge of the Sunnah has no knowledge of the Book, because the Qur'an and the Sunnah are twins, and it is not permissible to separate between them, as came in the authentic hadith:
I have left for you two things by which you will not go astray as long as you hold onto them: the Book of Allah and my Sunnah. And they will not separate until they return to me at the Pond.
in other than this, later.
Al-Halabi : Yes, O our Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Please go ahead.
