Is it permissible to stand on an electric device that carries one around the Ka'bah to facilitate this act, which is tawaf?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Abu Layla : I mean, for example, in the name of making things easier for people, if they made electric conveyances here that a person could stand on, would that be permissible, like that? The Shaykh : No, no.
Abu Layla : It is not permissible.

Another questioner : It is toil, hardship, and striving.

The questioner : Did not the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drink from Zamzam while standing so that people would see him do so?

The Shaykh : Let us distinguish. This is a rational explanation, which is possible, whereas that is a narrated explanation. I mean, when Jabir ibn 'Abd Allah al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated the tawaf of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while riding, he said: "So that people would see him and ask about it." So there is a difference between the two matters, even though this rational explanation might be acceptable.

The Shaykh : ... .

The questioner : What is your opinion about performing sa'y on the first floor?

The Shaykh : I see no objection to it if one needs it, but the original practice is this... between the two markers, do you know this or not?

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : So then, why do you not perform sa'y with the other people performing sa'y?

The questioner : And I am not in a state of ihram.

The Shaykh : Ah... you are not in a state of ihram...

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Well done. When did you perform 'Umrah?

The questioner : I performed 'Umrah four years ago...

Another questioner : This time, my brother?

The questioner : About a week ago.

The Shaykh : I mean, are you a pilgrim performing Hajj? Did you perform 'Umrah before Hajj and then exit the state of ihram?
The respondent: Yes. We came for tamattu', O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Good. Praise be to Allah.

The questioner : Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, and to Allah belongs all praise. Allahu Akbar is great, and praise be to Allah abundantly, and glory be to Allah and His praise, morning and evening. There is no god but Allah alone, who has supported His servant and honored His army and defeated the confederates alone, three times.

The Shaykh : It is in a collection in the book known as al-Hawi fi al-Fatawa.
