The Meaning of the Hadith: (Breaking the bone of a believer while he is dead is like breaking it while he is alive)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Al-Huwayni: Our Shaykh, regarding this noble hadith
Breaking the bone of a dead believer is like breaking it while he is alive كسر عظم المؤمن الميت ككسره حياً
, is the intended meaning breaking it, meaning taking it out of the form in which Allah created it? Or actually crushing and breaking the bone?

The Shaykh : Breaking it, breaking it, meaning we do not expand our interpretation to say more than what came in the hadith. That is, if it were permissible for us to move a leg bone, for example, from here to there, that would not be breaking. But if the situation necessitates dividing it into two parts, that is the breaking. The one who takes a knife and cuts the abdomen and nerves and the like to reach the location of the kidney, there is no doubt that this is first mutilation, and that it is similar to the breaking mentioned in the hadith. Knowing that the hadith first addressed the issue of the deceased placed in his grave, so one must take care of him and not expose any of his bones to breaking. As for today, the operation is that people take control of the deceased before he is placed in the grave, by opening the abdomen and dissecting it and the like.
