If a person is in his prayer and wants to prostrate while still standing, does he say the takbir and then prostrate, or does he prostrate and then say the takbir, or does he say the takbir while descending into prostration?

The questioner : When a person is praying, for example, if he wants to prostrate while still standing, does he say the takbir and then prostrate, or does he prostrate and then say the takbir, or does he say the takbir while descending into prostration?

The Shaykh : The takbir, meaning the takbir for moving from one pillar to another, is to be said between the two pillars. So if he wants to prostrate, let him say the takbir between standing and prostrating. And if he wants to rise from prostration, let him say the takbir between prostrating and standing. This is the best. And if it happens that he begins the takbir before he descends into prostration and completes it while descending, there is no harm. Likewise, if he begins it while descending and does not complete it until he is prostrating, there is no harm. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
