Is it permissible for me to recite the Qur'an without pronouncing the letters, but by following along with my eyes and heart from the mushaf? Would I receive reward for that?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He asks: Is it permissible for me to recite the Qur'an without pronouncing the letters, but by following along with my eyes and heart from the mushaf? Of course, would I receive reward for that?

The Shaykh : No, there is no reward in that. That is, a person does not receive the reward of recitation unless he pronounces the Qur'an, and pronouncing it requires moving the lips and tongue. As for one who looks at the lines and letters with his eyes and follows along with his heart, he is not a reciter. It is not befitting for a person to accustom himself to this, because if he becomes accustomed to it, his entire recitation will be in this manner. As is observed in some people, you find him turning the page and nodding his head like this, to the right and left, to follow the lines, and then he has turned the second page in a short time, and you know for certain that he did not recite with pronunciation.
In summary, whoever does not recite with pronunciation does not receive the reward of the reciter. This is the first point.
Second, we advise our brothers to avoid this path, meaning reciting with their eyes and hearts only, because if they become accustomed to it, they will be deprived of much good. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
