A weak hadith, and the hadith following it, which is the tenth, is an authentic hadith

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The ninth hadith is a weak hadith, and the hadith following it, which is the tenth, is an authentic hadith, and it contains a detailed explanation of the previous hadith, the hadith of Jibril, which is from the narration of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Gabriel (ﷺ) came to me and said: I came to you last night and was prevented from entering simply because there were images at the door, for there was a decorated curtain with images on it in the house
Sunan Abi Dawud 4158Sahih (Al-Albani)
Note the wording; Jibril said
was prevented from entering simply because there were images at the door
Sunan Abi Dawud 4158Sahih (Al-Albani)
meaning that what comes to people's minds today from the word "images" is idols, but that is not the case, as evidenced by his statement later
for there was a decorated curtain with images on it in the house
Sunan Abi Dawud 4158Sahih (Al-Albani)
, a curtain with images on it means idols? No, rather the intended meaning is pictures, whether in the pictures on the door or the pictures on the curtain,
and there was a dog in the house
Sunan Abi Dawud 4158Sahih (Al-Albani)
this is part of the complete speech of Jibril, he is saying to the Messenger (may the prayers and peace of Allah be upon him), explaining the reason for his delay in coming in the promise that he had made to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), so Jibril (may the prayers and peace of Allah be upon him) says
And there was a dog, so he ordered that the head of the image in the house be cut off so that it becomes like a tree, and he ordered that the curtain be cut up and made into two cushions that are thrown on the ground and sat upon, and he ordered that the dog be made to go out
It was narrated by Abu Dawud, al-Tirmidhi, al-Nasa'i, and Ibn Hibban in his Sahih, and al-Tirmidhi said: "It is a good, authentic hadith." Hadiths of this type regarding keeping a dog will come if Allah wills, meaning in the chapter or section of warning against keeping a dog, hadiths will also come that include the prohibition of image-making.
