A word from the Shaykh on the method of acquiring religious knowledge.

The Shaykh : It is that we benefit, both questioner and respondent, from the questions that come to us, so that we may clarify what knowledge we have regarding them. Before that, I see fit to deliver a brief word on knowledge and the path to acquiring it, based on a verse in the Noble Qur'an that we have always read and recited, in the hours of the night and the edges of the day, yet most people do not pay attention to the knowledge contained in it. That is His saying, Blessed and Exalted is He: [An-Nahl 16:43] Allah the Mighty and Majestic addressed this noble verse to the entire Muslim community, its scholars and its ignorant, its educated and its unlettered. — This is your concern; I have no voice but what you hear. — This verse [An-Nahl 16:43] is an address to the entire community, as we said: its scholars and its ignorant. Our Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, divided the community in this verse into two groups: a group upon whom it is obligatory to ask, and a group upon whom it is obligatory, when asked, to answer. These are the people of knowledge, and those are the non-scholars. [Al-Nahl: 43]. The people of the reminder are the people of the Qur'an, because the reminder here refers to the Noble Qur'an, as evidenced by the saying of the Lord of the Worlds: [An-Nahl 16:44], so the reminder here is the reminder there. [An-Nahl 16:44] meaning the Qur'an. [An-Nahl 16:44] And the people of the reminder, the people of the Qur'an, are, as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 19:26 And our Prophet (may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him) did not mean by this hadith that the people of the Qur'an are those who memorize the Qur'an and perfect its recitation with the correct articulation of its letters and sounds, and recite it with good recitation, even if they do not exaggerate in that as some reciters do. Rather, the intended meaning of the people of the reminder, the people of the Qur'an, are those who, above all else, understand the Noble Qur'an with a correct understanding, and then they act upon it. These are the people of knowledge; these are the people of the reminder... like the Muslims, and that represents the second and larger group, who should direct their questions to these... people of the reminder, who are the people of the Qur'an and the people of Allah and His special ones. So, our Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, indicated in this verse that one of the methods of learning is for a person to ask about what matters to him from the affairs of his religion, and not remain ignorant throughout his life, but rather to hasten to apply this verse: [An-Nahl 16:43] This research, in reality, we have traversed more than once, and it bears elaboration, but to save your time, which is my time, I leave the details mentioned for us to receive the questions you have, and perhaps I will be able to answer them all in this interval in which we can remain with you. So, bring out now what you have of questions, and let us begin according to the Sunnah, as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: . Do you have something? I give the turn to someone else.
